Areas north of I-287 and the Merritt Parkway are seeing an icy and slippery wintry mix on Sunday morning, Jan. 20. Significant snowfall totals of up to a foot are expected north of I-84.

Precipitation will continue into the afternoon when the big change occurs - namely, a dramatic drop in temperatures that will result in a flash freeze-up as a blast of Arctic Air will bring the coldest air of the season.
After temperatures rise later Sunday morning to as high as 42 degrees farther south, they will take a dive down to the mid-20s by late in the afternoon with wind-chill values between 10 and 20.
Gusty winds of up to 30 mph, along with snow, and ice accumulation may bring down tree limbs and power lines, leading to widespread outages.
The overnight low Sunday night into Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 21, will be between zero and 5 degrees. Wind-chill overnight values will be between -5 and -15.
Monday will be mostly sunny, icy and frigid, with a high temperature in the lower teens with wind-chill values between -5 and -15 during the day. Winds between 22 and 24 mph with gusts up to 40 mph could cause power outages.
Tuesday, Jan. 22 will be mostly sunny with a high in the upper-20s.
